Frequently asked questions
Where are meetings held?
Typically, initial meetings are held in our office in Romsey, over Zoom or on the Telephone. There are sometimes circumstances that will mean we offer to come to you, usually where you are running a business, vulnerable, elderly or have mobility issues.
Do you have parking?
Yes there is plenty of surplus parking available at our office.
Do I have to pay for an initial meeting?
We do not charge for initial meetings held at our office in Romsey. We reserve the right to ask for your commitment toward some of our travel costs if the meeting is held at your office/home.
We understand that sometimes an initial meeting does not proceed into a project. We reserve the right to charge for any future meeting that could be considered a second initial meeting.
What do I need to bring to an initial meeting?
Feel free to bring anything you see as relevant to the discussion plans. This could be pension/investment statements, income and expenditure forecasts etc.
How long should I allow for an initial meeting?
We would usually keep an initial consultation to a maximum of one hour.
Do I have to sign up to your services at an initial meeting?
No, we would actively encourage you to take away paperwork, digest the information and let us know if you would then like to proceed.
How can I book an initial meeting?
You are welcome to email admin@grosvenorbirch.uk or phone the office on 01794 521550.
Are you independent?
Yes, we are independent, which means we can guide/advise you on any provider, product or investment, without bias or restriction. Not all financial planners are independent meaning they are restricted in the advice they can provide.
Are you regulated?
We are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under the registration number 528798.
Can you advise on Final Salary/Defined Benefit transfers?
Unfortunately not; whilst we cannot advise on defined benefit pension transfers, we can still assist clients that have such a pension and take this into account when reviewing your entire financial position.
What happens if my Financial Planner is away on holiday?
We have three Chartered Financial Planners at the firm, all of whom are family members. We pride ourselves on being aware of what each adviser is doing in relation to their client’s activity. We are confident that we will be able to action any instruction or answer any concerns you might have.
What do you charge for a financial plan?
This will largely depend on your situation. For initial Planning reports we operate a tiered system based on complexity and time involved. These are usually fixed fees that range from £1,990 & £6,060
For insured and regulated advice recommendations, including implementation we again charge fixed fees, based on the time, complexity and number of parts being implemented.
Do you take a percentage or are your fees fixed?
We operate on a fixed fee basis for Plan and Implementation reports, and a percentage of invested assets for ongoing fees.
Do you get commission?
While we will only ever charge fees for our financial planning services, we may take commission when we implement insurance products. If you would prefer, we can charge a fixed fee for the time involved, or a combination of both.
Do you charge VAT?
Currently our services are not subject to VAT.
